BA or Bachelor of Arts is a 2 years bachelor degree in humanities. Majority of Pakistani students prefer BA on any other bachelor level degree. Any student can appear in BA exam as a private candidate but immediately after the intermediate exam students have to get them register with a university of their choice as an private candidate of BA. Combined paper of BA part one and part 2 are taken after 2 years. Separate admission form is submitted before the final exam of BA. Now distance learning universities are also offering this program.

BA Hons/BS Vs BA 
 BA(Hons) and BS are 4 years degrees in humanities. Both these options are better than than simple BA. BS and BA (Hons) are considered equivalent to MA. These degrees provide you in-depth knowledge about one subject of your choice. In the modern era of specialization employers prefer the specialists of their field that's why BS and BA (Hons) are very quickly taking the place of simple BA. 
 
Still there are some positive points of BA e.g a BA student can appear in competitive exam 2 years after his intermediate. Tough English A and B papers of BA help the students in improving their English writing skills. Two elective and one optional subjects helps the students in the selection of elective subjects of PMS and CSS exams.     
 
Subjects
English (200 marks), Pakistan Studies (40 marks), Islamic Studies (60 marks) are compulsory subjects in BA (Bachelor of Arts). Students have to chose 2 elective subjects of 200 marks each and optional subject of 100 marks.
